  • Meet the Old City of Taichung via the sharing of sketches Engaged in teaching for an extensive period of time in an easy-to-understand approach, beginners can easily get the hang of it. Sharing the teaching method using the (painting of) the Taichung Prefecture Hall as an example.

Graduated from the Graduate Institute of Fine Arts, National Taichung University of Education; 1968 Born in Haxi, Taichung; Moved to Puli after the 921 Earthquake. Likes landscape drawing. Compared with “the initial simplicity,” I am more fascinated by the process of “going from complexity to simplicity.” Engaged in teaching travelogue sketches. Recording each moment with my paint brushes. Retaining and sharing historic moments and images. Uses simple tools and entry-level skills for the pleasure of more people enjoy travelogue sketches.

Profile

The name “Artshrimp” is taken from the homophonic Chinese word for “Artist.” The “1/2” represents the intertwining lifestyles. Artshrimp moved to Tainan a few years ago and had an exhibition at the NCKU Art Center. His work features unique designs and the beauty of textures. He is an engineer/painter who is passionate about painting.

Profile

Ke Shizhong, MA in Fine Arts, Fontbonne University, Missouri, US. Currently the Art Center Director and Professor at the Department of Cultural Creativity and Design, NKUT; contracted artist in Taichung’s GSR Gallery, served as a juror for the Taichung Dadun Art Exhibition, Nantou Yushan Art Exhibition; held 18 solo exhibitions, held more than 30 joint exhibitions. His works have been honored with the National Defense Arts Award (oil painting), Nantou Art Exhibition’s Excellency Award, First Place at the Nantou Yusan Art Exhibition (oil painting), First Place at the Qingxi Art Award (oil Painting) and so on.

Transparent oil painting techniques, granular toners and acrylic colors are often applied in his creations. The three materials are interlaced freely in the composition, mixing the abstract and the concrete for attempts at exploring new topics while containing a stronger sense of experimentation and creation. Original works brimming with vitality are thus presented to convey praises for and investigation on life issues.

Profile

Graduated from the Graduate School of Art of the University of Iowa and Department of Fine Arts of the National Taiwan Normal University.

Once served as a juror for the National Art Exhibition, National Students Art Exhibition, Provincial Art Exhibition, Taipei Art Exhibition, Kaohsiung Art Exhibition, chief referee for the National Skills Competition by the Bureau of Employment and Vocational Training (Council of Labor Affairs, Executive Yuan) and referee for the World Skills Competition.

The themes of his watercolor works are mainly flowers and landscapes, featuring black contours, color blocks, contrasting coldness/warmth and brightness/darkness, white backgrounds and smudging that constitutes flowing animated compositions. His brush strokes are brisk and streamlined. Conte crayons and ink brushes are occasionally applied and mixed into his watercolor works.

  • Sketching in perspective can be overwhelming, but it’s easy if you know how perspective works and what to look for! We’ll focus on how to sketch buildings and spaces in perspective.
  • You’ll learn how to set up the foundation, the “Good Bones” of your sketch in 3 simple steps, starting with learning to see big shapes.
  • You’ll learn some perspective basics, including what makes a sketch a one-point versus a two-point view.
  • I’ll use an iPad to show you how to find the big shapes, the vanishing points and eye level in your views.
  • We’ll look at how to develop your sketch and paint like an architect, finishing your sketch in watercolor or your favorite medium.
